Cherry Springs wakes up!

New guest Mark Hoggins enjoyed his winter angling
Sunday 10 February 2019

Mark Hoggins has been on his first visit to Cherry Lakes this weekend with his partner Jemma Griffiths. Mark and Jemma have been staying in Kingfisher Lodge on Cherry Springs.

Mark has been sensibly fishing with small baits including maggots. He has caught a Tench of 2-3lb, some Perch as well as three nice Carp to date. The biggest being a good looking Common of 19-07. A fair result given that Mark has been enjoying the weekend break and has not been fishing all of the time.

As you can see from the pictures below the Carp look good in their winter colours. I particularly like the vivid colours of the smaller Common. It is good to see that the fish in this lake are now moving and have become catchable again after a winter shut down.

With only one guest fishing on Cherry Lake, and with just a few ‘bleeps’ reported, it is difficult to tell how much the Carp are moving. My feeling is that they are increasingly catchable. If you fancy a last minute break to see if you can catch one from Cherry Lake then give me a call on 01285 869887. With over 30 Carp over 30lb’s and probably three over 40lbs, plus our lovely warm Lodges…the ultimate winter bivvies ... it has got to be worth a go!
