Happy New Year: Two free holiday prize draws and 35+ club Hoodies

Happy New Year to everyone who follows these updates. We hope 2018 is a good year for you.
We are very quiet at Cherry Lakes at the moment. This is the time when we try to get some of the more fundamental maintenance work completed. For example this January we are replacing all the shower unit on the original four Lodges as well as spring-cleaning as normal. We are also installing a new kitchen into the Cottage.
We are very much looking forwards to the year ahead. With a reasonable ‘following wind and continuing good health for the Carp’ we expect a number of the upper thirties (which were caught last year) to go comfortably through the 40lb barrier. If one or more of them are caught in the March-May period, then I would expect a new Cherry Lake record. I have a ‘bottle of Champagne’ waiting for the next Cherry Lake record holder!
We are also expecting over 20 different Carp to be caught over 30lb+. We were close in 2017 with 17 different properly weighed and photographed Carp and are more confident for the year ahead. We got off to a good start on New Year’s Day when Bill Osbourne caught a 30-08 Common (which was another new thirty for us) from Osprey Lodge on Cherry Lake. Fingers crossed!
As mentioned in our Christmas e mail, on the 30 April 2018 we celebrate our 5th anniversary. Amazingly 5 years have passed since we opened Heron, Osprey, Grebe and Kingfisher Lodges. This last five years has gone very fast. We have certainly learnt a lot; invested so much more money than we ever envisaged; made some great friends; worked hard; and had a lot of fun as well as shedding a few tears along the way. We are very proud of Cherry Lakes and always appreciate the very positive comments which we get from most of our guests. There is nothing better for us than saying good bye to our guests when they have a smile on their faces having had a good time and leaving promising to return.
We will be running two free prize draws in 2018. The first recognises and celebrates our 5th anniversary. Everybody who books or stays in any of our Lodges or Cherry Lake Cottage before 30 September will be entered automatically into a free prize draw. The winner will be invited to take a free weekend or mid-week break with us before the end of the year.
Since we launched the Cherry Lakes 30+club in 2014, 78 different anglers have caught one or more Carp over 30lb from Cherry Lakes. We expect to comfortably to smash through the 100 30+ club membership barrier in 2018. We also think this significant milestone is worth recognising. So we are going to run another free prize draw for all those anglers who catch a thirty in 2018. The lucky angler will win a free weekend break to be taken by the end of March 2019. Just to whet your appetite i have included three examples of Cherry Lake thirties below.
Our 30+ club Polo shirts are much sought after possessions and we will continue to present these. We are also going to ‘present’ complimentary Cherry Lake 35+ Hoodies and expect these also to become much sought after.
We are now getting the normal new year flurry of bookings. It is good to see that we have many past guests re-booking with us. It is also good to see that a large number of people will also visit us for the first time in 2018. If you are thinking about coming to Cherry Lakes in 2018 and you do not have much flexibility around dates then I would recommend booking soon.
