Tommy Goodwin becomes the newest member of the 30+club

Tommy Goodwin and his father-in -law Bob Burrows of The Basildon Angling Centre have been staying this week in Cherry Lake Cottage. Their visit has coincided with another spell of very hot weather. Normally I would have expected the fishing to have been very slow, but their result just shows what good angling can produce even in difficult conditions.
The majority of the Carp came from the plateau about 45M out. They baited steadily throughout the week to land 7 Carp including an impressive 30-12 Mirror to Tommy. This Carp is a UK PB for Tommy who can now boast of having caught English Common and Mirror Carp over 30lb. In doing so he has become the latest member of the Cherry Lake 30+ club, and it was nice or me to see him ‘wearing the shirt’ with pride!
As you can see from the photos below, his partner Lucy was very pleased with him!
A further 8 Carp were landed by the anglers in Grebe and Heron Lodge to make it a good week on Cherry Lake.
Paul Rogers staying in Pochard Lodge on Cherry Mere. Again despite the heat, he landed some 20 Carp including 3 over 20lb to 25-04. Large 20mm boilies over Hemp and Pellets did the trick for him. Well done Paul.
