James Morris 31-00

James Morris lands a 31lb Common from Cherry Mere

I finally get my rods out and I am off the mark for 2022
Thursday 10 March 2022

Regular guest and fishery friend James Morris took advantage of a late booking to visit Pochard Lodge on Cherry Mere. Fishing with his good friend Bob Walker, James is having a great session. His catch includes our first 30lb+ Common since 2016 (the 2016 fish has not been caught since and is presumed to have lost weight and died). This very distinctive fish will be very easy to identify in the future as you can see from the photos above and below. Nice one James

Bob Walker's biggest Carp was this lovely 29-07 Mirror pictured below. All of Bob and James's Carp coming to the Cherry Lakes Bio-Cream boilies at all times of the day.

As mentioned in my last update good friends James Elliot and Chris Marshall stayed in Pochard Lodge last weekend. They had a great session which included a 30lb Mirror and this chunky 28lb Mirror pictured below. This lake looks like it has now properly woken up.

Lenard Chrisfield has been fishing Cherry Springs this week on his first visit to the fishery this week. Having struggled with his favourite fishmeals for a couple of days, Dave gave him some Bio-Cream boilies to try, and started catching almost immediately. This very bonny 23lb Common being his biggest so far. He is now much happier!

Cherry Lake has been slow and the Carp are not yet showing regularly. Hopefully with the weather now warming and improving the fish will respond.

Oxford United football star Cameron Brannaghan took advantage of late availability to spend a few nights with us earlier this week, but unfortunately did not see much action. I did however get my rods out for the first time this year and spent 24 hours fishing in Grebe Lodge. As you can see from the photo below, I managed to open this 'years account' with a very acceptable 29-04 Common. A new experimental bait which we might introduce later in the year doing the business,

Following a cancellation we do have Heron Lodge available for 18-21 and 21-25 March. If you fancy it please contact me on 01285 869887 or info@cherrylakes.co.uk
