Marc Campion smashes his PB with a 44-04 Mirror
John Hudson lands 4 Cherry Lake 30’s to 38lb
Tuesday 24 September 2024
Long term regulars Mark and Leigh-Ann Campion returned to Cherry Lakes last week to fish in Osprey Lodge. As it was Marc’s 50th birthday celebration they also brought along their good friends Mick and Karen Sinclair.
The fishing was not easy, but when Mick got off the mark (excuse the pun!), on Sunday with his first Cherry Lake Carp we were all very pleased. Mick’s 30-08 Common was also his new PB
Other than one or two half chances, their next Carp came on Thursday morning when the lake switched on. Indeed they had four runs within just three hours, landing three Carp.
The biggest of which was the cracking 44-08 Mirror landed by Marc, pictured in the lead photo above. This fabulous Carp was last out in April at 46lb and is clearly recovering from her post-spawning weight loss. At 44-08 it still set a new PB for Marc.
We are now entering the time of the year when we normally have at least one Lodge available, and especially for Monday to Friday stays. So if you fancy a late break why not check the availability calendar and/or give us a call on 01285 869887.
John Hudson recently had a good week in Heron Lodge On Cherry Lake. He landed 5 Carp during his stay, including 4 x 30’s to 38-08. The two-tone Common pictured above was my favourite shot of those he kindly sent through.
In between catching the Carp, John who is clearly an accomplished float angler, caught over 300 Roach. As a result John is now leading the race to see who can catch the most Roach from Cherry Lake, which runs up to Christmas. So if you are scheduled to visit Cherry Lake, please dont forget your float tackle and catapult!
Paul Cobb visited Kingfisher Lodge last week on the recommendation of a good friend. I was delighted to hear that he said he plans to return on leaving. Paul managed to catch a 31-08 Mirror and from memory, around 15 other Carp of which 6 were twenties including this 23-08 Common above.
Cherry Mere has been a bit more temperamental than usual over the last month or two. Sometimes the fishing has been very good, and at other times remarkably slow. Even during slow periods the fish have often been bubbling like mad. Other than blaming ‘naturals’ and the very variable conditions we have at times been scratching our heads to fathom out what is going on.
Regular Shane Smith, treated his parents to a weekend in Pochard Lodge. He had a good steady weekend catching 9 Carp including 4 twenties plus the 34-08 Mirror pictured above.A very satisfying weekend!
Very well done to all the anglers featured above. Thanks for the photos.
