Nathan Foord lands a brace of 30's from Cherry Mere
He lands the second 30+ Common in a week
Wednesday 16 March 2022
Cherry Lake is still very slow as we wait for the water temperatures to improve and the Carp become more active. I am as frustrated as the anglers who have been visiting. Dave keeps reminding me that it is only mid-March and that I am impatient!
The highlight of the Cherry Lake weekend was a 28lb Mirror to Richard Gregg in Grebe Lodge (sorry no photo).
Cherry Mere however is fishing steadily and is producing some big fish. Nathan Foord had a fantastic return visit to Pochard Lodge last weekend when he caught a brace of 30's+. He caught the second Common over 30lb in a week when he landed this one at 30-07, just as it was getting dark, pictured above with partner Debbie.
He also landed this heavily scaled Mirror, pictured below, at 02.30 in the morning at 30-02, as part of his five Carp catch. The successful tactic was to bait heavily with small boilies in an area just past the centre of the lake.
It is interesting that typical of this time of the year, that it is the bigger Carp being caught. They are I think always amongst the first of the Carp to feed under these conditions at this time of the year.
Cherry Springs has also been a little slow over the last couple of weeks. . Strange given it fished well during the mid-winter period. Jason Welch however got his week off to an impressive start when he landed this 24lb Common, pictured in the final photo below, early on Tuesday morning. He followed it up earlier today with this 23-04 Common below. Hopefully there are more to come!
With April just around the corner, I am conscious we still have a couple of weekend spaces remaining for
01-04 and 04-08 April. Osprey and Grebe Lodges on Cherry Lake.
We also have Egret Lodge on Cherry Pool available for the same dates.
