Peter Acciaioli's big hit on Cherry Pool
My 'rain-dance' continues to be ineffective.

The star of this weekend just gone is undoubtedly Peter Acciaioli who stayed this weekend in Egret Lodge on Cherry Pool.
Peter who is a returning guest did not fish nights, but certainly focussed his efforts during the day. He landed an impressive 22 Carp, including 5 over 20lb. The biggest being this 29-02 Mirror above.
Cherry Pool is by far our deepest lake across the Cherry Lakes complex. It has a history of fishing well in the late autumn and winter. I guess it is because it retains it's heat better and cools more slowly than the other shallower lakes?

Peter chose to feed heavily with Cherry Red boils and fished Cherry Red Wafters over the top. He even used all the Wafters in his pot and had to buy another one!

Dave Martin visited Cherry Springs this weekend staying in Kingfisher Lodge and did well until Sunday when the rising air pressure acted to slow the fishing down. From memory (which admittedly is not very good these days!), he landed 18 Carp during his stay including this 'bonnny' 27-08 Mirror. Dave fished a mixture of our Fruit and Banoffee boilies.

The biggest Carp of the weekend caught from Cherry Lake was Chris Dudley's 35lb Common from the Cottage swim. Unfortunately the photo does not do the fish justice. He also had another fish around 18lb on Sunday afternoon.

Cherry Lake is certainly not fishing consistently well. I think the rapid drop in water temperatures and low water levels is not helping. I am continuing to moan about sunny days and settled weather as we need a lot of rain this autumn and winter to recharge the lakes and water table.
We also had several Carp lost, which if landed would have made the weekend feel like a good one rather than an average one! Still that's fishing!
Callum Smith and his good friend William Brown stayed in Osprey Lodge. Between them they landed three Carp, the biggest being this eye-catching 26-04 Fully Scaled Mirror above.
William chose to position one of his baits in the near channel on Saturday night and was rewarded with this lovely Ghost Mirror of 18lb pictured below. One of our home grown babies. The guys shared a Cherry Red session deal between them for bait..
