A steady weekend in the heat!
Plenty of sunbathing Carp enjoying the late summer sun!
Monday 26 August 2019
A reasonable return this weekend from across Cherry Lakes which was positive given the very hot late summer weather.
Daniel Rossey and Thomas Drove had a fun weekend in Egret Lodge on Cherry Pool with their better halves and managed some 40+ Carp to 16lb. It never ceases to amaze me how productive and consistent this lake is. I suspect it has something to do with its depth, the wide variety of other species competing for food, plus a lot of Carp!
Cherry Springs has been a little slow over the last couple of weeks. Peter Webster did manage some 8 Carp during his visit last week including a nice 24lb Mirror.
Jason Cousins had a good weekend in Pochard Lodge and landed 8 Carp to 26-09 (picture below) plus a hatful of Perch to 2lb on the float rod. Fishing on the left hand side of the decking. Chris Cousins did not do so well on the right hand side of the swim and is vowing to do better next time!
Cherry Lake produced this weekend for all of our anglers. When this happens it is always nice for the anglers and pleasing for us. Mind you Darren Batchelor in Osprey Lodge made me sweat as he waited until Monday morning to catch 2 Carp!
Tom Nixon-Taylor continues to do well on Cherry Lake and finished his week's stay with 11 Carp including a Ghost Common of 33-08 (also see last update). Tom fished a variety of spots from Heron Lodge presenting snowmen over a beds of crushed boilies and pellets. He seems to make Carp fishing look easy....even when it is not!
Ben Bircham and Michael Lynch made their first visit to Grebe Lodge this weekend and did well. Also fishing over a combination of pellets and crushed boilies, using Krill fishmeal boilies they landed 4 Carp between them including several 25lb+ Carp. Unfortunately they also lost 5 Carp, so they very nearly had an outstanding first trip. Ben amazingly had two stunning Fully Scaled Mirrors including the 24-12 specimen in the lead photo above. We seem to have had a good run of Fully Scaled Mirrors recently. It is good to see these stocked fish doing so well. Michael landed a nice Common of around 25lb pictured below. We look forward to seeing them both again as they have promised to return..
