What a stunner!
Steven Smith's 29-10 Fully Scaled Mirror takes your breath away!
Monday 5 August 2019
I did promise to focus this update on the other lakes, but Steven Smith's fantastic Fully Scaled Mirror means that I cannot resist leading with it's photo. This is the best looking Carp that I have seen in a long while. It was awesome in the 'flesh' and also looks great in the photo (often a Carp's colours and impression created live does not always translate as well into photos). My favourite photo of the year so far.
Steven caught this Carp late on Sunday afternoon from Osprey Lodge. The weight was almost immaterial, but at 29-10 it is a fish going places and a will no doubt become a real target fish in the future. Well done Steven.....next time you will no doubt get the 'T-shirt'!
All of the smaller lakes across the Cherry Lakes complex have been regularly producing Carp, and last week was no exception.
Craig Gascoyne, who is a regular guest returned to spend last week in Kingfisher Lodge on Cherry Springs with his sons Lewis and Jack. Together they shared an impressive 30 Carp, with dad Craig landing the biggest, a 27lb Mirror pictured above. He was delighted with his new PB, as well as the fact (for a change) that he managed to 'beat' his two competitive sons! Happy Days for Craig!
Tony Barden was on his first visit to Cherry Lakes and stayed with his wife Kirsty and had a great time. He caught Carp consistently throughout his stay catching well into double figures. His catch also included two twenties to 23lb, both pictured above and below. I would like to say thank you to Tony (and all the other guests who also) for sending through lots of photos. I always enjoy seeing the smaller Carp as well as the big ones! It also gives me more photos to choose from. Tony and Kirsty have promised to return and we look forward to having them back. Thanks Tony and Kirsty.
