Shane Smith with a 36lb Cherry Springs Mirror

Some cracking Carp from all our lakes.

As always I am behind the recent Facebook updates from Simon. However as not all of you read these Facebook updates, I thought I would share with you some of the cracking Carp recently caught.

Regular Shane Smith had a great result from Kingfisher Lodge on Cherry Springs in difficult conditions, which included this beauty above of 36-02. A new PB for Shane.

The biggest Carp caught since my last update a month ago, was this 37lb Mirror landed by Katie Higgs. Also from Cherry Springs.

Both Cherry Springs and Cherry Mere regularly feature in these updates due to the quality of the stock in these lakes, both hold around ten Carp over 30lb. The big Carp from Cherry Pool (my best estimate is that there are around 5 over 30lb), do not come out very often as the smaller Carp seem to beat them to anglers baits! Well over the last couple of weeks, two of the bigger Carp have certainly 'got their skates on'!

Lewis Jefferies, who often helps us out around the fishery (see next update on the stock pond), had this stunning 33lb Mirror from Egret Lodge on Cherry Pool, pictured above, which Simon and I were privileged to witness. A real cracker this one.

Tom Poynter, who recently fished Cherry Pool also broke the 30lb barrier with this 32lb Mirror which was witnessed by fishery manager Darren. Very nice indeed both.

I could not finish this update without mentioning both the weather as well as this lovely 35-06 heavily scaled Mirror caught by Ben Chaplin, pictured below , from Osprey Lodge on Cherry Lake.

I am sure I will return to this subject repeatedly as I am so worried about water levels and the weather. Despite the two named storms and a wet week during October, the River Churn has returned to being just a trickle. Worse than this is the news that the record El NiƱo in the pacific, looks like it is triggering the earliest ever recording of the change to the Polar Vortex. Normally when this happens we get very cold but dry winters. If this proves to be the case, I don't know what is going to happen to our reservoirs, rivers and lakes around the country, especially if we have a hot summer again.

Plenty for a fishery owner to worry about!
